Kids Clean: How to Get Frosting Out of Carpet
The second part of our holiday series is dedicated to sweets—making them or eating them, a mess is bound to happen. Getting frosting out of the carpet can be a nightmare and food coloring and can get into the fibers of your carpet. So, we asked Joey to give us a helping hand to see if he can get frosting out of the carpet.
We gave him an array of common, DIY cleaning agents to see if he could get the frosting up. Joey gets an ‘A’ for effort but he didn’t quite get the stain to come out. We have expert tips here for you, though. Enjoy!
HOW TO REMOVE FROSTING FROM CARPET:
- Start by picking up as much of the frosting as possible, gently scraping off what’s laying on the carpet with the spoon. You’ll want to remove as much of the residue as possible.
- Mix your cleaning solution: combine ¼ teaspoon liquid dish detergent with one cup water in a spray bottle.
- Spray the spot to dampen the carpet. Don’t soak it.
- Use white towels to blot the stain. Don’t rub. Rubbing will start to tear the carpet fibers and could make the spot worse.
- Continue this process until you can’t lift up any more frosting.
- Finish with a solution made with one cup vinegar and two cups water, flush or spray the spot.
- Blot dry.
- Let the area dry completely before walking on it.
